Summary
This article describes what a Learning Experience (LX) is and the 3 Learning Experience (LX) categories.
What is a Learning Experience (LX)?
A Learning Experience or LX is a type of Workplace Based Assessment (WBA) tool through which you record evidence of your professional practice at a chosen ANZCAP recognition level (e.g. Resident, Registrar, Consultant).
LXs are the building blocks used to build a recognition portfolio and achieve ANZCAP recognition.
LXs can also be used in a custom portfolio to share evidence of professional practice not included in a recognition portfolio.
Your LX Library contains all of your Learning Experiences.
Learning Experience (LX) categories
The three categories of LX are Autonomous, Collaborative and Endorsed.
The LX category indicates the workflow and sources used to guide feedback and reflection of the professional experience, i.e. how the LX is validated and therefore completed.

A collaborator is a professional colleague who has the experience and skills required to engage with the candidate on the specific professional experience being recorded in the LX.
A collaborator may come from a variety of health professional backgrounds e.g. pharmacy, medical, surgical.
Learning Experience (LX) types
Each LX category has a number of different types of Learning experiences. Each LX has it’s own tool available on the ANZCAP digital platform and a companion article providing guidance on how to complete it.
Learning Experience (LX) Library
The LX Library is your repository of all of your LXs on the ANZCAP digital platform, showing LXs as in draft or completed, with search and filter functions.
LX are managed within the LX library and can be associated with a recognition portfolio or custom portfolios.
Regardless of whether an LX has been associated with a recognition portfolio, custom portfolios, or even if the LX has expired, it will continue to be available in your LX library.
How do Learning Experiences (LXs) relate to competency standards?
Each type of LX has been mapped to the relevant domains within the National Competency Standards Framework for Pharmacists in Australia 2016 for pharmacists practicing within Australia and the Competence Standards for Aotearoa New Zealand Pharmacists, 2023 for pharmacists practicing within New Zealand.
