Summary

This article describes the options for ANZCAP recognition via an Independent Program.

Recognition via the Independent Program

The Independent Program allows an opportunity for ANZCAP members to be recognised as a Resident, Registrar or Consultant.

A pharmacists may complete recognition via the Independent Program at any workplace across Australia or New Zealand.

Requirements for Resident Recognition via the Independent Program

To obtain ANZCAP Resident Recognition via the Independent Program, pharmacists must:

  • Hold current registration as a pharmacist within Australia or New Zealand

  • Be a current ANZCAP member

  • Complete an Independent Resident Recognition Portfolio

The LX requirements for an Independent Resident Recognition Portfolio are:

Core LX

10

The 10 Core LX must consist of:

  1. DONCs or Mini-CEX or DOPS

  2. DONCs or Mini-CEX or DOPS

  3. Consumer Survey 

  4. Professional Practice assessment tool

  5. Manager Report

  6. Collaborative Supervision Report

  7. Conference/Seminar report

  8. Collaborative Case Presentation

  9. Collaborative Journal Club Presentation 

  10. Collaborative Research Activity

Elective LX

30

The 30 Elective LX must consist of:

  • At least 5 different types learning experiences

  • At least 20 must be from the endorsed or collaborative LX category

Total LX

40

Once the Resident candidate has completed all 40 LX requirements, the recognition portfolio they may submitted for ANZCAP Resident recognition. Candidates who successfully achieve recognition as an ANZCAP Resident are award the ANZCAP-Res. post nominals.

ANZCAP Resident recognition does not align with an area of specialty practice.

Requirements for Registrar Recognition via the Independent Program

To obtain ANZCAP Registrar Recognition via the Independent Program, pharmacists must:

  • Hold current registration as a pharmacist within Australia or New Zealand

  • Be a current ANZCAP member

  • Previously achieved ANZCAP Resident recognition via the Independent, Training or Foundation program

  • Complete an Independent Registrar Recognition Portfolio

The LX requirements for an Independent Registrar Recognition Portfolio are:

Core LX

The 10 Core LX must consist of:

  1. DONCs or Mini-CEX or DOPS

  2. Case Based Discussion

  3. Professional Practice assessment tool

  4. Collaborative Peer assessment 

  5. Collaborative Supervision Report 

  6. Collaborative LEADER 

  7. Collaborative QiPAT 

  8. Collaborative TEACH

  9. Conference Research Activity

  10. Collaborative Research Activity 

Elective LX

30

The 30 Elective LX must consist of:

  • At least 5 different types learning experiences

  • At least 20 must be from the endorsed or collaborative LX category

Total LX

Once the Registrar candidate has completed all 40 LX requirements, the recognition portfolio they may submitted for ANZCAP Registrar recognition.

The Registrar candidate must identify one or two specialty areas of practice for each registrar recognition awarded. The LXs included in the recognition portfolio must align with these chosen area(s) of practice.

Candidates who successfully achieve recognition as an ANZCAP Registrar are award the ANZCAP-Reg. (areas of specialty) post nominals.

Requirements for Consultant Recognition via the Independent Program

To obtain ANZCAP Consultant Recognition via the Independent Program, pharmacists must:

  • Hold current registration as a pharmacist within Australia or New Zealand

  • Be a current ANZCAP member

  • Previously achieved an ANZCAP Registrar recognition via the Independent, Training or Foundation program in the practice area intended for Consultant Recognition

  • Complete an Independent Consultant Recognition Portfolio

The LX requirements for an Independent Consultant Recognition Portfolio are:

Core LX

10

The 10 Core LX must consist of:

  1. PEER assessment 

  2. External Organization Representation

  3. Collaborative LEADER

  4. Collaborative LEADER

  5. Collaborative QiPAT

  6. Collaborative Supervision Report

  7. Collaborative Supervision Report 

  8. Collaborative TEACH

  9. Conference Research Activity

  10. Published article or research   

AND 2 Years minimum practice as an “ANZCAP Registrar or Consultant candidate” in the specialty area

Elective LX

30

The 30 Elective LX must include:

  • At least 5 different types learning experiences

  • At least 20 must be from the endorsed or collaborative LX category

Total LX

40

Once the Consultant candidate has completed all 40 LX requirements, the recognition portfolio they may submitted for ANZCAP Consultant recognition.

The Consultant candidate must identify one or two specialty areas of practice for each Consultant recognition awarded. The LXs included in the recognition portfolio must align with these chosen area(s) of practice.

Candidates who successfully achieve recognition as an ANZCAP Consultant become fellows of ANZCAP and are awarded the FANZCAP (areas of specialty) post nominals.

LX requirements for inclusion in a Recognition Portfolio

For inclusion in an independent recognition portfolio a Learning Experience (LX) must include:

  1. A Practice Recognition level that is at or above the recognition portfolio level

  2. An Area of Practice that aligns with the specialty area of practice for that recognition

  3. Contain LX performance criteria markers of Meets or Exceeds
