Overview
The Australian and New Zealand College of Advanced Pharmacy (ANZCAP) recognises the specialty skills and experience of pharmacy practitioners across Australia and New Zealand as Resident, Registrar and Consultant Pharmacists.
ANZCAP supports pharmacists and technicians to track and plan their career, enabling professional achievements to be clearly and concisely understood by employers and peers, healthcare colleagues and patients receiving care.
ANZCAP supports pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and pharmacy interns and students to build a career-long evidence library, and submit Recognition Portfolios for validation against the three progressive levels, and any one or two of 40 specialty disciplines aligned with SHPA Specialty Practice.
Custom Portfolios can also be curated to support career progression and opportunities.
ANZCAP has an inclusive structure that is fit for current practice, equitable and open to all pharmacy practitioners and designed to empower pharmacists and technicians as they advance in their careers or move between workplace settings.
Recognition
Registered pharmacists practicing above the general level can achieve ANZCAP recognition at three progressive levels:
Resident Pharmacist
Registrar Pharmacist
Consultant Pharmacist (Fellow)

Pharmacists who successfully achieve ANZCAP recognition are awarded post-nominals, enabling their advanced pharmacy practice, specialty and membership to be publicly acknowledged:
ANZCAP-Res.
ANZCAP-Reg. (specialty area/s)
FANZCAP (specialty area/s)
Specialisation
Pharmacists who achieve ANZCAP Registrar and Consultant Pharmacist recognition may choose from 46 areas of specialty pharmacy practice to demonstrate their specialty experience and expertise. Up to two specialty areas of practice can be selected per recognition portfolio.
The full list of specialty areas of practice, descriptions and post-nominals are available in the ANZCAP recognition article.
Access and membership
Access to ANZCAP is available free as an SHPA or NZHPA member benefit, or via direct ANZCAP membership.
Further information on ANZCAP membership and available policies is available under the ANZCAP membership article.
Digital platform
ANZCAP is powered by an intuitive portfolio-building platform that supports SHPA, NZHPA and ANZCAP only members at every stage of their career to digitally integrate and centralise evidence of their professional practice.
Practitioners can allocate Learning Experiences (LXs) to Recognition or Custom portfolios to highlight key professional milestones and achievements.
