Please note: The Foundation Program has closed.
This program was available to pharmacists in Australia and New Zealand from late 2023 until May 2024 (Australia) and August 2024 (New Zealand).
Pharmacists holding general registration in either country can now build a portfolio towards recognition through the Independent pathway or Training pathways (Australia only).

What is the recognition through prior professional experience pathway?
Pharmacists who have recently arrived in and gained general registration as Pharmacist in Australia or New Zealand can apply for ANZCAP recognition as a Pharmacist Resident, Pharmacist Registrar or Pharmacist Consultant using their prior professional experience.
This page outlines what you need to know to be recognised for each level through this pathway:
recognition eligibility criteria
examples of prior professional experience
requirements of prior professional experience required for recognition
Please note: ANZCAP recognises that experience gained practicing as a pharmacist in another country will contribute to an individuals practice in Australia or New Zealand, however ANZCAP recognition is based on demonstration of an individuals skills, experience and impact against the National Competency Standards Framework for Pharmacists in Australia 2016 and the Competence Standards for Aotearoa New Zealand Pharmacists 2024.
In order to be recognised through ANZCAP, an individual must be able to demonstrate that their prior overseas experience allows them to practice at Pharmacist Resident, Registrar or Consultant level in Australia or New Zealand.
If you would like to have a discussion with a member of the ANZCAP team to help translate your prior professional experience into ANZCAP recognition then please contact us at anzcap@shpa.org.
