What is ANZCAP?

The Australian and New Zealand College of Advanced Pharmacy (ANZCAP) supports pharmacists and technicians to track and plan their career through an intuitive portfolio-building platform.

ANZCAP recognises the specialty skills and experience of practitioners across Australia and New Zealand at Resident, Registrar and Consultant levels, enabling professional achievements to be clearly and concisely understood by employers and peers, by healthcare colleagues and, of course, by patients receiving care.

ANZCAP supports pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and pharmacy interns and students to build a career-long evidence library, and submit Recognition Portfolios for validation against the three progressive levels, and any one of more than 30 specialty disciplines aligned with SHPA Specialty Practice.

Custom Portfolios can also be curated to support career progression and opportunities.

ANZCAP has an inclusive structure that is fit for current practice, equitable and open to all pharmacy practitioners and designed to empower pharmacists and technicians as they advance in their careers or move between workplace settings.

Recognition

Registered pharmacists practicing above the general level can achieve ANZCAP recognition at three progressive levels:

  • Resident

  • Registrar

  • Consultant (Fellow)

Pharmacists who successfully achieve recognition at any of the three ANZCAP recognition levels are awarded ANZCAP postnominals which allows their advanced pharmacy practice, specialty and membership to be acknowledged amongst their peers.

  • ANZCAP-Res.

  • ANZCAP-Reg. (specialty area)

  • FANZCAP (specialty area)

Specialisation

Pharmacists who achieve ANZCAP Registrar and Consultant recognition may nominate from 39 areas of specialty pharmacy practice. They can choose up to two specialty areas of practice for each recognition portfolio.

The full list of specialty areas of practice are available in the ANZCAP recognition article.

Access and Membership

Access to ANZCAP is available free as an SHPA or NZHPA member benefit, or via direct ANZCAP Membership.

Further information on ANZCAP membership and available policies is available under the ANZCAP membership article.

Digital Platform

The ANZCAP digital platform is an interactive portfolio building platform that supports ANZCAP members at any stage of their careers to integrate evidence of their professional practice into digital portfolios.

At every career stage, practitioners can use Recognition or Custom portfolios to highlight key professional milestones and achievements.
