Pathways
Pharmacist can currently achieve ANZCAP Recognition as a Pharmacist Resident, Pharmacist Registrar or Pharmacist Consultant Pharmacist via one of two merit-based ANZCAP Programs, and the initial Foundation Programpathways.
The various programs pathways provide flexibility and choice for ANZCAP members practicing in a diverse range of regions settings and scopes of practice to achieve recognition.

Pathway
Candidates achieve ANZCAP recognition by completing an Independent Program at their own workplacea self-directed recognition portfolio. The Independent Program Pathway allows individuals flexibility to complete their portfolio in any practice setting by using a combination of Core and Elective Learning Experiences (LXs) to complete a their Recognition Portfolio and achieve their chosen ANZCAP recognition.
Completion of Learning Experiences (LX) is supported by multi-disciplinary peers.

Foundation Program
The Foundation Program has now closed for new applications in Australia. The program remains open to pharmacists from New Zealand with access to the ANZCAP platform, until 31 August 2024.
In Australia, the Foundation Program has seen broad uptake and we have deemed it is at capacity given the time required to assess applications before 30 June 2024. However, to ensure equity of access, Australian practitioners who have begun preparing their submission are able to request special consideration via the ANZCAP Info Hub and Help Centre.

Training Programs
Candidates achieve ANZCAP recognition by completing a Training Program at an accredited workplace. The Training Program contains a specified curriculum of Core Learning Experiences which must be completed to complete create a Recognition Portfolio and achieve the chosen ANZCAP recognition.
Completion of Learning Experiences is supported by accredited workplace specific program leads and preceptors.

Throughout a pharmacists pharmacist's career they may obtain the progressive ANZCAP recognition levels via a combination of the various programspathways.
For example:
A pharmacist may obtain their Pharmacist Resident Pharmacist recognition via the Independent Program Pathway and then obtain an SHPA AdPha Registrar Training (formally ATR) position so switch to the Training program to obtain their Pharmacist Registrar Pharmacist Recognition
Alternatively a pharmacist may obtain their Pharmacist Resident and Pharmacist Registrar Pharmacist recognition via the training program Training programs and then their Pharmacist Consultant Pharmacist recognition via the independent programIndependent Pathway.
Learning Experiences (LX)
A Learning Experience (LX) is a type of Workplace Based Assessment (WBA) tool that a pharmacist can use to record evidence of professional practice at a chosen any one of the ANZCAP Recognition level (e.g. Pharmacist Resident, Registrar, Consultant Pharmacist).
Learning Experiences are the building blocks used to build a recognition portfolio and achieve ANZCAP recognition.
Pre-registration features
With ANZCAP pre-registration membership, students and provisionally registered (intern) pharmacists have access to range of specially tailored features on the ANZCAP digital platform. These features have been developed in consultation with representative organisations to ensure they enable students and interns to document and showcase their individual practice.
These can be shared with others using the ANZCAP Custom Portfolios feature.
