A pharmacist has completed and submitted all of the requirements in a recognition portfolio. They are awarded with the ANZCAP title, post nominals and badges of Pharmacist Resident, Pharmacist Registrar or Pharmacist Consultant. | |
Autonomous Learning Experience | Autonomous Learning Experiences allow ANZCAP members to independently document, self-evaluate and self-reflect on a variety of significant professional experiences. |
Badge | ANZCAP Pharmacist Residents, Pharmacist Registrars and Pharmacist Consultants. are entitled to use a digital badge to share achievement of their ANZCAP recognition on social platforms. |
Candidate | A candidate is an ANZCAP member who is in the process of contributing an ANZCAP recognition portfolio but has not yet achieved the required experience or LXs. e.g. an ANZCAP Pharmacist Registrar candidate, has previously obtained Pharmacist Resident recognition but has not completed the required 40 LX for a Registrar recognition portfolio. |
Collaborative Learning Experience | Collaborative Learning Experiences allow ANZCAP members to engage with professional peers (collaborators) to document evaluation, feedback and guided reflection on a variety of significant professional experiences. |
Collaborator | A collaborator is a professional colleague who has sufficient skills and experience with a particular professional activity or scenario to enable them to provide evaluation, feedback and support goal development for a Collaborative LX. The collaborator can be from a range of multidisciplinary qualifications (pharmacy, medical, nursing). |
Core Learning Experience | The learning experiences in a chosen recognition portfolio that must be completed by all candidates. The LXs allocated as core learning experiences differs depending on the program and level of recognition being completed. Core Learning Experiences may be from the Independent, Collaborative or Endorsed categories. |
Custom Portfolio | A collection of Learning Experiences that an ANZCAP member can compile in a portfolio to share evidence of individual professional practice. |
Elective Learning Experience | The learning Experiences in a chosen recognition portfolio that the candidate has flexibility in completing. Elective LXs are only available in the independent pathway. Elective Learning Experiences may be from the Independent, Collaborative or Endorsed categories. See independent recognition portfolio requirements for rules around the combination of elective learning requirements that may be included. |
Endorsed Learning Experience | Endorsed Learning Experiences allow ANZCAP members to autonomously document and self-reflect on a variety of significant professional experiences that have undergone an established peer review or peer recognition process as part of the professional activity. |
Independent Pathway | Provides the opportunity for pharmacists working in any location or scope of practice to be recognised as a Pharmacist Resident, Pharmacist Registrar or Pharmacist Consultant by completion of a curriculum of core and elective learning experiences. |
Learning Experience (LX) | A Learning Experience or LX is a type of Workplace Based Assessment (WBA) tool that a pharmacist can use to record evidence of professional practice at a chosen ANZCAP Recognition level (e.g. Pharmacist Resident, Registrar, Consultant). Learning Experiences are the building blocks used to build a recognition portfolio and achieve ANZCAP recognition. |
Pharmacist Consultant | Pharmacist Consultants exemplify leadership within the profession, holding positions as senior experts collaborating across patient pathways to oversee complex clinical cases within a multidisciplinary framework. Their responsibilities extend to activities that harness their extensive expertise to advance individual and communal well-being. These professionals take the lead in generating and sharing evidence relevant to their practice, propelling enhancements in care and shaping practice standards. |
Pharmacist Consultant Candidate | A pharmacist who has achieved ANZCAP Pharmacist Registrar recognition (or equivalent) but is also actively contributing to a consultant recognition portfolio in the either the Independent Pathway or Training Program. |
Pharmacist Registrar | Pharmacist Registrars possess the knowledge, skills, and expertise to independently provide care for individuals with complex healthcare requirements for a specialized practice area. They have developed skills in leadership, education, and research necessary to effectively shape practices within their broader team or organisation. Leveraging their expertise, they offer personalized patient care and tangibly enhance the outcomes of the services they manage or are leader for. |
Pharmacist Registrar Candidate | A pharmacist who has achieved ANZCAP Pharmacist Resident recognition (or equivalent) but is also actively contributing to a Pharmacist Registrar recognition portfolio in the either the Independent Pathway or Training Program. |
Pharmacist Resident | Pharmacist Residents demonstrate a robust foundation of knowledge, skills and expertise that enables them to navigate various patient demographics and clinical environments with confidence and competence. They use their proficiency in medicines management to support the multi-disciplinary team while drawing on the expertise and knowledge of others where appropriate. Pharmacist Residents have developed leadership of self qualities and recognise opportunities for change and innovation within the pharmacy profession, seeking to promote these and improve the clinical practices of themselves and their team. |
Pharmacist Resident Candidate | A pharmacist who is practicing at the general level but is also actively contributing to a Resident recognition portfolio in the either the Independent Pathway or Training Program. |
Post-nominals | ANZCAP Pharmacist Residents, Registrars or Consultants are entitled to use post-nominals after their name to indicate the recognition and area(s) of specialty. |
Recognition Portfolio | A collection of Learning Experiences which form the requirements to achieve ANZCAP recognition at a chosen level. |
Specialty (or specialisation or specialty area of practice) | Those with ANZCAP recognition at the levels of Pharmacist Registrar or Pharmacist Consultant may nominate one or two areas of specialty pharmacy practice from a list of 40 to indicate the area(s) in which they have attained their skills and experience |
Training Program | Provides the opportunity for pharmacists working at an AdPha accredited training hospital across Australia to be recognised as a Pharmacist Resident or Pharmacist Registrar by completion of a curriculum of core learning experiences. |
